The Artist wins New York Film Critic Circle Awards

First clearer indication of the most notable 2011 movies gives little surprises.

The Artist, Michel HazanaviciusLast week New York Film Critic Circle announced the annual awards and the biggest winner is beautiful Michel Hazanavicius directed movie The Artist, depicting a film actor‘s fate at the end of silent movies era and beginning of sound. The film got awards as best picture (competing with Tree of Life and Scorseses just released Hugo) and for best director. Screenplay went to Moneyball and cinematography to Tree of Life

Best actors, lead and supporting: Meryl Streep for Iron Lady, Brad Pitt for Moneyball, Jessica Chastain for three movies and Albert Brooks for Drive.

Another notable award is for foreign language movie – already a big winner in various festivals (as usually is with Iranian movies) – A Separation.
